Botel Albatros — Prague's first floating boutique hotel in Art Deco. On the Vltava since 1969

A floating boutique hotel in central Prague,
on the Vltava

Welcome to Botel Albatros—Prague's first floating hotel. It has been moored at Ludvíka Svobody Embankment since 1969, a few minutes' walk from Old Town Square and Charles Bridge.
After the refit, the interiors have been restored in the Art Deco of the 1930s. The historic architecture of the hull is preserved, and cabin comfort is current.

First on the river

Albatros was launched in 1969 and hasn't left the Vltava since. Wake up to the soft movement of the river, ten minutes on foot from Old Town Square.

Art Deco float

Prague's only Art Deco floating hotel. The interiors—brass, warm wood, thin lines—carry the signature of the great ocean liners of the 1930s.

Modern comfort

Renovation 2025–2026: the original 1969 hull is preserved, mechanical systems and cabins reworked in Art Deco.

Central, but quiet

Just off the main tourist flow, but close to everything that matters. Within walking distance:

1969 — Prague's first botel

The Albatros was launched in 1969, to a design by hotel architect Zdeněk Davídek. That's how the Prague tradition of "botels" — boat + hotel — began: an answer to the shortage of accommodation for the rising number of tourists, diplomats and business guests of the late 1960s. Admiral followed in 1970, Racek in 1971; the Albatros remained the first.

Part of the Prague skyline

Over half a century on the Vltava, the Albatros has become part of the Prague skyline. Moored between Štefánikův Bridge and Štvanice Island, in the early years it drew the city's elite—closed evenings, gatherings, conversations until dawn. That's what fixed its reputation as a place with a character of its own. The botel keeps the aesthetic it had on launch day, and leaves its door open to anyone who wants to see Prague from the water.
